About the artist: Hem Schuppel was born at Plauen/Vogtland in 1923. He studied education, German philology & art in Berlin and Dresden. Following his military service and long years of captivity and confinement, he worked as a social pedagogue in Switzerland and Austria, as a teacher in the Odenwald and as adult instructor in the Taunus. Today, he is a university professor of esthetics and communications in Frankfurt/Main. He is interested in stones, rocks, walls: both the natural ones & the human
